10 Great Canna-Quotes

There are so many great artists, musicians, writers, scientists and philosophers who have written a passage or spoken to others about their fondness of marijuana. Many of whom are shouting (or singing) the praises of  it’s healing properties. So if you don’t believe us when we say that you should get a medical marijuana card – maybe you’ll believe these celebrities. Coming up with a top 10 is an almost impossible task, and we can’t necessarily put them in order, either. Yet, we will do so anyway, but please feel free to send us some of your favorites!

1. Willie Nelson

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?”

2. Hunter S. Thompson

“I have always loved marijuana. It has been a source of joy and comfort to me for many years. And I still think of it as a basic staple of life, along with beer and ice and grapefruits -and millions of Americans agree with me.”

3. Lenny Bruce

“Marijuana will be legal someday, because the many law students who now smoke pot will one day be Congressmen and they will legalize it to protect themselves. I don’t smoke pot, and I’m glad because then I can champion it without any special pleading. The reason I don’t smoke pot is because it facilitates ideas and heightens sensations – and I got enough shit flying through my head without smoking pot.”

4. Jocelyn Elders, M.D.

“The evidence is overwhelming that marijuana can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms caused by such illnesses as multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS — or by the harsh drugs sometimes used to treat them. And it can do so with remarkable safety. Indeed, marijuana is less toxic than many of the drugs that physicians prescribe every day.”

5. Louisa May Alcott

“A heavenly dreaminess comes over one, in which they move as if on air. Everything is calm and lovely to them: no pain, no care, no fear of anything, and while it lasts one feels like an angel half asleep.”

6. Carl Sagan

“It would be wryly interesting if in human history the cultivation of marijuana led generally to the invention of agriculture and thereby society.”

7. Melissa Etheridge

“Instead of taking five or six of the prescriptions, I decided to go a natural route and smoke marijuana.”

8. Alice B. Toklas

“Euphoria and brilliant storms of laughter; ecstatic reveries and extensions of one’s personality on several simultaneous planes are to be complacently expected.”

9. Martha Stewart

“Of course I know how to roll a joint”

10. Steven Gould

“It is beyond my comprehension that any humane person would withhold such a beneficial substance from people in such great need simply because others use it for different purposes.”
