9 Benefits of CBD Oil Food Supplement for Your Daily Wellness

Guest article by Jessica K.

In recent years, CBD oil has been presented as a possible treatment for conditions such as anxiety, diabetes, and cancer. While scientists have made a number of important discoveries concerning the medicinal properties of CBD, it is only a confirmation of what people in eastern cultures have known for years.

Thankfully, there is increasing acceptance of CBD as a medical remedy in the West, thanks to the improving legal environment. In the U.S., the legalization of medical marijuana in a majority of states has led to growth in popularity of CBD oil. It is usually produced from Cannabis indica, which generally has a higher CBD content. Cannabis sativa tends to contain less CBD and more THC than Cannabis indica. Legal cannabidiol (CBD) products are made from hemp, which contains little-to-no THC. Cannabis ruderalis autoflowering plants hailing from Eastern Europe) are thought to have the highest percentage of CBD compared to indicas and sativas. In this marijuana guide, we show you the benefits of CBD oil food supplements.

1. CBD as Treatment for Anxiety and Stress

CBD oil has been shown to be a treatment for anxiety and stress in animals and humans. CBD works by targeting the paralimbic and limbic areas of the brain. In a 2015 review of several international studies, it was concluded that CBD has the ability to potentially treat multiple types of anxiety disorder. It is important to note in this marijuana guide that CBD targets the endocannabinoid system in the brain, thus relieving stress and anxiety.

2. Cancer Prevention and Treatment

One of the biggest benefits of CBD is that it can prevent the growth of tumors in both humans and animals. A preliminary study that was done in 2018 showed that CBD oil could prevent the development of colon cancer. Another study done by analyzing medical records of several male patients suggested that exclusive users of cannabis indica (i.e. those who use cannabis but not tobacco) were less likely to develop bladder cancer compared to those who use tobacco, or even didn’t use cannabis at all.

3. Treatment for Epilepsy

There is a growing body of evidence on the effectiveness of CBD as a treatment for epilepsy. CBD has been shown to be able to reduce the frequency of seizures. In fact, the Federal Drug Authority (FDA) has since approved two CBD-based drugs including Epidiolex. Tests done on this drug showed that it is effective when it comes to reducing the frequency of seizures in epileptics.

4. Diabetes Prevention

Generally, cannabis users have a lower body-mass index (BMI). While that could be in part due to the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), it turns out that CBD can also help power the incidence of diabetes on its own. In one study, CBD lowered the number of diabetes cases in non-obese diabetic mice. It reduces the risk of diabetes by regulating weight, reducing insulin sensitivity, and preventing obesity.

5. Maintenance Brain Health

As one of the cannabinoids in marijuana, CBD could help regulate and maintain brain health. It works by improving mitochondria efficiency and getting rid of damaged cells. CBD is also an effective antioxidant which reduces toxicity due to glutamate. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. In these simple ways, CBD prevents damage to brain cells keeping it healthy and properly functional. One of the ways in which CBD protects the brain is by promoting the generation of new cells.

6. Prevention of Brittle Bones and Bone Disease

Bone metabolism is key to the generation of brand new bones in place of old ones. Incidentally, cannabinoids including CBD play a very important role in this process. Particularly, CBD works by blocking an enzyme known to destroy bone-building material to help reduce the chances of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and other bone diseases. It also stimulates the regeneration of new bone cells thus speeding the bone healing process.

7. Skin Healing and Protection

CBD oil contains a powerful antioxidant which protects and repairs the skin from damage due to UV rays and other free radicals. It works by targeting CB2 receptors, which are concentrated in the skin and serve to regulate how sebaceous glands produce oil. Thus, when applied topically, CBD oil can be very effective in treating conditions such as acne. It also prevents and helps to reduce skin cancer types such as carcinoma and melanoma.

8. An Effective Anti-Inflammatory

A growing body of evidence shows that the contents of cannabis such as CBD have anti-inflammatory activities. CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to fight inflammation in most of the organs. By so doing, it plays a role in the prevention of quite a number of diseases including cancer and diabetes.

9. Pain Relief

Only recently have scientists confirmed the pain relief capabilities of CBD oil – relief that people in ancient civilizations have enjoyed and knew was a property of cannabis for centuries. It works by targeting the endocannabinoid system but produces perfect results when combined with THC. What’s important is to find the right quality and dosage of CBD oil that works for you.

Conclusion

As you can see, CBD oil food supplements have a number of potential benefits. Whether CBD alone is enough to help depends upon your individual physiology, but there are many people who claim that CBD does help with their everyday health problems. Other people may need to combine CBD with THC to get its medical benefits, whilst others need another set or ratio of cannabinoids and terpenoids entirely. CBD has a range of effects, and can be used to potentially treat all sorts of everyday health and wellness issues as well as more serious conditions such as cancer and epilepsy. Chronic pain, inflammation nausea, stress & anxiety, and skincare issues can all possibly be treated to some extent with CBD.
