Can I be/have a caregiver for a medical marijuana patient in New Mexico?

For minor patients under the age of 18, or those who are over 18 but need a caregiver due to their condition. Primary caregiver is designated by a patient’s practitioner as necessary to take responsibility for managing the well-being of a qualified patient with respect to the medical use of cannabis. Primary caregiver must be a resident of New Mexico. The caregiver must be 18 years of age or older.

To apply as a caregiver, follow this process:
1. Have a physician complete the necessary sections of the application during the patient consultation
2. Complete the Medical Cannabis Caregiver Application
3. Complete a nationwide background check (this document must be mailed in with your application)
4. Mail in the the completed documents to the state program
